     Game Rules

All games will consist of three (3) periods of 10x10x15 minute lengths.

A 2-minute warm up will commence on the clock when the Zamboni leaves the ice. Warmups will not be extended so that games and the tournament stay on time.

Handshakes will take place at the beginning of each game.

In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time there will be a (5) minute overtime period. Teams will NOT change ends.

In the event of a tie after the overtime period, there will be a 3-player shootout. If still tied after the 3-player shootout, additional shootout rounds will continue until a winner is determined. Players may NOT repeat in the shootout until all players have participated.

(with the exception of goaltenders). The scorekeeper will track the names of the shooters. It is not necessary for coaches to submit the shooters names prior to the games.

Time outs are only allowed in the Championship Game

Mercy Rule: A mercy rule will be in effect for all games. In accordance with the OMHA Manual of Operations:

If the difference in score becomes FIVE GOALS OR MORE at any time in the 3rd period, the game clock will revert to a continuously running clock.

The clock will not become a stop-time clock again until the trailing team brings the difference in score BACK TO WITHIN THREE GOALS OR LESS and it will not become a running clock again after that until the difference is again five goals or more.

During a running clock, Minor Penalties will be three minutes (3:00) in length, Major Penalties will be seven-and-a-half minutes (7:30) in length and Misconduct Penalties will be fifteen minutes (15:00) in length.

The only time the clock would stop during running time is for an on-ice injury and it would re-start immediately upon the injured player and training staff vacating the ice.

The Championship Team will be allowed to take photographs with the Mickey Renaud Cup, but the trophy must remain at Tecumseh Arena at all times.

NO PROTESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE’S DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL.
