Tecumseh clinches 2009 Gold Nations Cup for Team Canada
Our Eagles had the privilege of representing Canada in the 2019 Nations Cup Tier II Tournament across Michigan this past weekend...

34 teams from both Canada and the US participated, placed into divisions based on their current records and skill level a week prior to the tournament start.  Tecumseh was placed in the Gold division, along with other top tier teams in Ontario to face the best the United States has to offer.

The competition was fierce and physical, testing our players like never before.  They finished round robin play with a 3-1 record, losing their only game 8-7 in a gunslinger, tying for 2nd place overall heading into Sunday’s finals.

15 points win the Nations Cup - With 7 match-ups pitting Canada vs. USA, and each game carrying a incremental point total, Tecumseh arrived to find Canada winning all 4 of the lower seeded games, giving Canada a 10-0 advantage heading into their tilt with the Port Huron Flags.

The opportunity to wear the Maple Leaf was something truly special to this group as they battled in arguably the most exciting game of their season to date.  Trailing the Flags 2-1 late in the 2nd period, the Eagles scored the tying goal with 1:08 left, setting the table for an unforgettable 3rd period.

Chances at both ends with a fast and furious pace could have seen this game turn on an instant, but with 4:07 left in the 3rd, Tecumseh notched the go-ahead goal - its peaks moments still ahead, the physical play hit an all time high, and these resilient players kept their composure, continued to work hard, and chewed up the clock to seal the victory for Canada, clinching the Nations Cup!

Outstanding goaltending, relentless forechecking, exceptional puck movement, timely scoring, and unwavering perseverance would be found in each game throughout this tournament.

Congratulations to all the players, parents and coaches representing our country...

GO CANADA GO!
