Christian Steingraber

Position:
Head Coach
Team:
U8 MD
Coaching Experience:
5 Year
Playing Experience:
20 Years

Coaching Background:

Coach Christian’s journey in hockey has spanned decades—from elite-level AAA teams to our grassroots Eagles community. He previously served as Assistant Coach for the Windsor Midget Major AAA team (2014-2016), helping lead them to a Silver Stick Tournament championship and first-place regular season finish. Many of those players advanced to junior, college, and pro levels—a testament to his strong player development focus.

At TSMHA, he’s coached at multiple levels since 2022, including U9 HL, U8/U9, U7 HL, and U5 HL. In 2024-25, he steps in as Head Coach for the U8 MD team with the same drive, mentorship, and love for the game.

Coaching Philosophy:
“My goal is to develop confident, resilient young players who love coming to the rink. We emphasize skill development—skating, shooting, puck control—while learning to compete with integrity, respect, and teamwork. I want kids to take risks, learn from mistakes, and grow as people as much as players.”

Development & Team Culture:
The U8 MD program under Christian focuses on individual growth within a team-first culture. Every player gets the tools and support they need to succeed at their level, while also having fun and building lasting friendships. Christian leans on his own Junior and College-level experience to bring elite insight into practices, game strategy, and team dynamics.

Why TSMHA?
“Tecumseh feels like home. It’s a tight-knit, family-focused community where kids grow up surrounded by support and mentorship. I’ve seen firsthand how this association develops great players—and even better people.”

Commitment & Expectations:
Players are expected to give their best, show respect, and embrace a growth mindset. Families are encouraged to be part of the journey with positivity and shared goals.

Fun Fact:

  • Favourite NHL Team: Detroit Red Wings (a lifelong fan growing up across the border in Oregon, Ohio)

  • Favourite Player: Nicklas Lidstrom—admired for his leadership, hockey IQ, and calm, consistent dominance

  • Hobbies: Staying active with family, rollerblading, biking, playing sports, and enjoying time with friends

Message to Families:
“Our team is about building strong fundamentals, having fun, and creating an environment where players can thrive. I care deeply about every kid’s journey, and I’m here to help them grow with confidence, joy, and purpose.”

David Norris

Position:
Head Coach
Team:
U14 A
Coaching Experience:
23 Years

Background & Experience:

Coach David has spent over 20 years developing young athletes across both boys’ and girls’ hockey programs, including Tecumseh, Riverside, and Southpoint. He’s led teams at nearly every age level and has a long list of competitive accomplishments:

  • 🥈 Provincial Silver Medalist – U21 Windsor Wildcats

  • 🥉 Provincial Bronze Medalist – U14 Windsor Wildcats

  • 🏆 OMHA Semi-Finalist – U16 Riverside Rangers

  • 🏒 Bluewater League Finalist – U18 Tecumseh Eagles

  • 🏅 Art McKenzie Award (2018) – Top Coach, Riverside International Tournament

Coaching Philosophy:
Coach David believes that fun and development go hand in hand—but that success is earned through hard work. He runs highly organized, efficient practices that focus on skating, flow drills, game situations, and systems. His teams are taught to compete hard in both directions, and ice time is earned through effort, commitment, and coachability—not favouritism.

“We like to keep it light and fun, but when it’s time to work—we get to work. Winning and improving are a lot of fun when you’re prepared.”

Development Focus:
David’s practice structure puts heavy emphasis on skill development and gameplay understanding. About two-thirds of his practices are dedicated to individual and small-group drills (1-on-1s, 2-on-1s, flow), with the remaining time focused on team systems and situational play.

Team Culture:
Respect and sportsmanship are non-negotiable. Players are expected to show up ready to learn, support each other, and carry themselves with class—win or lose. “We want our players to have each other’s backs. No egos. Just team.”

Why TSMHA?
“If you want experienced coaches who know how to teach, motivate, and challenge players at this age, then Tecumseh is the right place. We’re not babysitters—we’re builders. And we’ve been doing this a long time.”

Off the Ice:
David enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he’s a big fan of pickleball when he’s not at the rink.

Fun Facts:

  • Favourite NHL Team: Detroit Red Wings – “Local pride and legendary history.”

  • Favourite NHL Player: Steve Yzerman – admired for his leadership, work ethic, and ability to adapt to win.

Message to Families:
“Our players develop, learn, and have fun. We keep things light, but we expect hard work and accountability. If your player wants to get better and be part of a motivated, respectful team—we’d love to have them.”

With a deep commitment to player development and team culture, Jeff’s teams have seen real success—most notably, back-to-back Bluewater League Championships and a strong showing at the OMHA Championships.

Coaching Philosophy:
For Jeff, hockey is about much more than wins and losses. It’s about developing good teammates, leaders, and people. His coaching style emphasizes accountability, mutual respect, and a strong family atmosphere on and off the ice.

“We want our players to treat each other the way they want to be treated. You can’t go far in hockey if you’re not a good teammate.”
